Thank you for visiting my stall at the Holistic Health Festival on 24-25 November,  I hope you found the festival enjoyable and enlightening!  You have requested to receive information on certain aspects of Ayurveda, and this letter is to confirm your interest.  We also have a newsletter, but you have not requested one so you are not on our regular mailing list.

About Me
As you may know, I am the first person to complete a government recognised Ayurvedic Medicine Diploma, the highest Ayurveda qualification available in the Western World.  As the main interest in Ayurveda in New Zealand is currently centred around Auckland, I recently decided to move to Hamilton to open the first Traditional Ayurveda Clinic outside of Auckland, bringing the ancient knowledge of this amazing health system to the Waikato!  This makes me the Waikato's Ayurveda Authority, so if you have any questions about Ayurveda – I'll be more than happy to help you!  You may have noticed – I love talking about Ayurveda, so don't be afraid to ask.  But remember, Ayurveda is a very complex subject, for detailed information, you will need to attend a course or workshop (see next page).

Ayurveda Clinic
I am currently completing a business course, and expect to begin operations around February 2002.  My clinic will be situated in the North City Yoga Centre, 83 Commerce Street, Frankton, and I will be providing a range of Ayurveda products and services from there.

My Services
My main area of interest is Women's health, and the clinic will be focusing on Ayurvedic body therapies for body, mind and soul.  We have a range of body therapies aimed at balancing these different areas of the human being, and I will be providing many of them.  As a sideline, I will also offer Ayurvedic lifestyle and nutrition consultations (based on your body type) once a week for those committed to serious change for health and wellbeing!

Among the Ayurvedic Treatments I will be offering in 2002 are:
a Luxurious Ayurvedic Full Body Massage – one hour of bliss with warm medicated oils, using vital energy points (marmas).  A very refreshing and revitalising massage for body and mind.  Great as a special treat, or regular pampering for yourself or a loved-one!
a Ayurvedic Treatment for Musculoskeletal problems (Kati Basti) – a one-hour treatment with warm medicated oil and massage to loosen muscle fibres, reduce toxin and crystal deposits, reduce pain, improve mobility and nourish and strengthen weak structures such as bones, tendons and ligaments
a Ayurvedic Eye Treatments (Netra Basti) – a half-hour treatment to cleanse and strengthen the eyes.
a Ayurvedic Mind Purification (Shirodhara) – a one hour treatment of head massage and warm oil therapy, for calming, relaxation and balancing of the mental energies.  Centred on the third eye to improve spiritual energy.

These treatments aren't available until the clinic is officially opened,  but please contact me earlier if you are interested or would like to know more.

The following services will not be available when the clinic opens – but I will offer them as soon as possible – so keep your eyes open!  I will announce each service as it becomes available in the newsletter, please contact me if you would like to know more about any of the following – or if you would like me to contact you when a specific service is available.

a Ayurvedic Chakra Balancing Massage – using gems, herbal powders and mantras for each chakra.
a Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Therapy – 3 day programme of massage, steam and shirodhara to cleanse and refresh the body and mind.
a Ayurvedic Beauty Treatments – herbal body packs, facials and wrinkle-reducing treatments to enhance your natural beauty!
a Courses and Workshops – on many Ayurvedic topics – cooking, nutrition, massage and body treatments, women's health, vegetarianism, eco-friendly lifestyle, and latin dancing (not Ayurvedic!).

Ayurveda Products, Information and Books
At present, Bader Street Pharmacy (see address on letterhead) currently stocks many Ayurveda products, and had basic information on Ayurveda available.  From there we can also order you Ayurveda books or products which we don't keep in stock.  Please ask for a catelogue.

Our Herbal products are only the best India can supply – we buy from India's oldest and most well-respected herbal companies.  With over 100 years in the business, and used by the Indian government –    we know you can trust your these products with your most precious possession – your body.

The complex formulas we stock are available only from India, and are made in very elaborate processes using often hundreds of different special ingredients per product.  The formulas are from ancient recipes, passed down through the generations, and many of them take years to make.  These special processes and ingredients make our products super-potentised and fast-acting – they can't be compared with the simple 'Ayurvedic' products sold in health stores and by other health practitioners in New Zealand.

Ayurveda Diet Products are available from the pharmacy in small amounts – a larger range will be available from my clinic.  The dietary products are those which are hard to come by in the supermarket, such as recommended spices, and replacements for oil, butter and refined sugar (ghee and jaggery).  Recipes and nutritional guides will also be available.

Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Beauty Products are also available in the pharmacy in small amounts – with a larger range available from my clinic.  These include guides on lifestyle practices such as meditation, yoga and breathing techniques; Body cleansers such as tongue scrapers, body scrubbers, massage oils, herbal soaps and shampoos; And my homemade beauty products.  Other products for the home such as good quality incense and music will also be available.

My Apologies!
You may have noticed that I'm not open yet – as I promised I would be!  I offer my most sincere apologies to all those who are waiting for appointments with me.  But don't despair!  I haven't lost hope – so neither should you!!

Why the Wait?  Due to funding difficulties, and my proposed clinic site falling through – along with various other obstacles (some of them positive – see 'newsflash'), I haven't been able to open the clinic yet. Please be assured that I am working hard to get the clinic open as soon as possible, and I you will be the first to know when it is finally due to be open!

I would be grateful for any help you may be able to give me with my main problem – the clinic site!  I had proposed the site of the North City Yoga Centre in Frankton, but this site was too noisy during the day time (not a problem for the night time yoga classes) for the peaceful haven I was envisaging for my clinic!  I am presently looking into two options – Can you help?
1 Renting rooms in a quiet location within the city boundaries (see requirements below)
2 Renting a house to live in, with a granny flat OR a large room with it's own entrance and toilet (see other requirements below).  This is my preferred option!!

ANNOUNCING:  The imminent arrival in NZ of the esteemed Ayurvedic Doctor– Dr Sumedha Pandit
Dr Sumedha arrives in Hamilton on 16 May 2002, direct from Pune, India, as part of her international lecturing tour.  She will be here for 2½ weeks before continuing her tour in Australia, the UK, Germany, Holland and Canada.

Dr Sumedha is a qualified Ayurvedic Doctor (B.A.M.S.) who specialises in Women's Health (she has an M.D. in Ayurvedic Gynaecology).  She has been an honorary lecturer at the reputed Ashtang Ayurvedic University in India, and has travelled outside of India numerous times at invitations to teach.

HER ONLY NZ WORKSHOPS AND LECTURES WILL BE CONDUCTED HERE IN HAMILTON
Dr Sumedha has taken personal interest in Waikato Ayurveda Month (May 2002), and has kindly offered to conduct lectures and workshops on a not-for-profit basis.  A worthy cause for the health of all Waikato people, and a unique opportunity for the region, this will be a special day in our history. Events run from 18 May to 3 June, don't miss your chance to be a part of this event!
