Hare Krishna. =>B-) JTCd

"May there be good fortune throughout the universe, and may all envious persons be pacified. May all living entities become calm by practicing bhakti-yoga, for by accepting devotional service they will think of each other’s welfare. Therefore let us all engage in the service of the supreme transcendence, Lord Sri Krishna, and always remain absorbed in thought of Him."(Srimad Bhagavatam 5:18:9.)

The Nectar in this Issue

From time to time articles and shlokas (verses) included in this newsletter may require the Balaram font in order to view them nicely. If you don't have the Balaram font installed on your system you can download it for free from our fonts page.

Srimad Bhagavatam Day

SB. 12.13.13:

prausthapadyam paurnamasyam
hema-simha-samanvitam
dadati yo bhagavatam
sa yati paramam gatim
Translation:

"If on the full moon day of the month of Bhadra one places Srimad Bhagavatam on a golden throne and gives it as a gift, he will attain the supreme transcendental destination".

 Purport:

One should place Srimad-Bhagavatam on a golden throne because it is the king of all literature. On the full-moon day of the month of Bhadra, the sun, which is compared to this king of literatures, is present in the constellation Leo and looks as if raised up on a royal throne. (According to astrology, the sun is said to be exalted in the sign of Leo.) Thus one may unreservedly worship Srimad-Bhagavatam, the supreme divine scripture.

Srimad Bhagavad Gita AS IT IS

Bhagavad Gita:  Chapter 5 -  Karma-yoga : Action in Krsna Consciousness

   TEXT 29

   bhoktaram yajna-tapasam
   sarva-loka-mahesvaram
   suhrdam sarva-bhutanam
   jnatva mam santim rcchati

   WORD FOR WORD
bhoktaram--the beneficiary; yajna--of sacrifices; tapasam--and penances and austerities; sarva-loka--of all planets and the demigods thereof; maha-isvaram--the Supreme Lord; su-hrdam--the benefactor; sarva--of all; bhutanam--the living entities; jnatva--thus knowing; mam--Me (Lord Krsna); santim--relief from material pangs; rcchati--one achieves.

                               TRANSLATION
A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.

PURPORT by His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad:

The conditioned souls within the clutches of illusory energy are all anxious to attain peace in the material world. But they do not know the formula for peace, which is explained in this part of the Bhagavad-gita. The greatest peace formula is simply this: Lord Krsna is the beneficiary in all human activities. Men should offer everything to the transcendental service of the Lord because He is the proprietor of all planets and the demigods thereon. No one is greater than He. He is greater than the greatest of the demigods, Lord Siva and Lord Brahma. In the Vedas (Svetasvatara Upanisad 6.7) the Supreme Lord is described as tam isvaranam paramam mahesvaram. Under the spell of illusion, living entities are trying to be lords of all they survey, but actually they are dominated by the material energy of the Lord. The Lord is the master of material nature, and the conditioned souls are under the stringent rules of material nature. Unless one understands these bare facts, it is not possible to achieve peace in the world either individually or collectively. This is the sense of Krsna consciousness: Lord Krsna is the supreme predominator, and all living entities, including the great demigods, are His subordinates. One can attain perfect peace only in complete Krsna consciousness.

This Fifth Chapter is a practical explanation of Krsna consciousness, generally known as karma-yoga. The question of mental speculation as to how karma-yoga can give liberation is answered herewith. To work in Krsna consciousness is to work with the complete knowledge of the Lord as the predominator. Such work is not different from transcendental knowledge. Direct Krsna consciousness is bhakti-yoga, and jnana-yoga is a path leading to bhakti-yoga. Krsna consciousness means to work in full knowledge of one's relationship with the Supreme Absolute, and the perfection of this consciousness is full knowledge of Krsna, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. A pure soul is the eternal servant of God as His fragmental part and parcel. He comes into contact with maya (illusion) due to the desire to lord it over maya, and that is the cause of his many sufferings. As long as he is in contact with matter, he has to execute work in terms of material necessities. Krsna consciousness, however, brings one into spiritual life even while one is within the jurisdiction of matter, for it is an arousing of spiritual existence by practice in the material world.
The more one is advanced, the more he is freed from the clutches of matter. The Lord is not partial toward anyone. Everything depends on one's practical performance of duties in Krsna consciousness, which helps one control the senses in every respect and conquer the influence of desire and anger. And one who stands fast in Krsna consciousness, controlling the abovementioned passions, remains factually in the transcendental stage, or brahma-nirvana. The eightfold yoga mysticism is automatically practiced in Krsna consciousness because the ultimate purpose is served. There is a gradual process of elevation in the practice of yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi. But these only preface perfection by devotional service, which alone can award peace to the human being. It is the highest perfection of life.

Thus end the Bhaktivedanta Purports to the Fifth Chapter of the Srimad Bhagavad-gita in the matter of Karma-yoga, or Action in Krsna Consciousness.

Prabhupada Uvacha:
(here's some nectar, sometimes it comes in the form of Srutakirti prabhu's diary, other times from Govinda dasi's diary, Hari Sauri prabhu's Transcendental Diary, or sometimes from a letter, or other related source, but still nectar...)

January 3rd, 1976, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh

In the early morning Srila Prabhupada, Tamal Krishna Maharaja, Harikesa, and I boarded a train heading north to Nellore, a small city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The local Madras devotees saw us off at the station with a rousing kirtana. The clamor alerted some of the other passengers to Prabhupada's presence, and several men hovered around the carriage, peering in with great interest. We shut the door and relaxed in the quiet privacy of the first-class compartment.

"First class" is a misnomer, as the compartment was a bit uncomfortable and dirty, with soot from the steam engine speckled throughout. The only advantage was the privacy of the cabin. Still, Prabhupada said he preferred to travel by train rather than plane; there is more room and a satisfyingly sedate pace.

We carried with us some fruit and other prasadam for breakfast. After Prabhupada ate, we enjoyed the remnants while he took a little rest, stretching out along the seat, which devotees had covered with clean white sheets.

Tamal Krishna Maharaja went out to wash and swiftly shut the door behind him. When he came back he sidled through the half-open entry and again quickly shut it. "There are three men hanging around in the corridor hoping to see Prabhupada," he said, answering our quizzical looks. "They'll just come in and ask some nonsense and disturb him, so don't let them in." People in India are often eager to ask for blessings from holy men, but unfortunately they rarely have any serious spiritual intent. There are also many sadhus accustomed to offering such meaningless asirvada, or blessings.

Srila Prabhupada refers to this kind of sadhu as an asirvada-maharaja. Usually they give a wave of the hand, a nod, and exchange a few polite words. There is no spiritual discussion, no transmission of knowledge, and no transformation. Yet both parties are satisfied with this giving and receiving of they know not what -- 'asirvadas.' From our understanding of Prabhupada's teachings, such intangible exchanges are of no practical value. Naturally, as Prabhupada's servants, we don't like to see his time wasted with such blessing-seekers.

When Harikesa and I went out of the compartment, the curious men were still there. On our return, despite our obvious reluctance to let them in, they strained to see past us, knowing that if they caught Prabhupada's eye, etiquette would oblige him to let them in. Prabhupada was awake, eye-contact was made, and he instructed us to let them in. The three filed in and sat opposite, smiling and pleased at having evaded the secretaries of someone they knew was a great spiritual leader and holy man.

Thus we all sat: we three somewhat irritated by this polite infringement on Prabhupada's precious time, they three ignoring us, eager to have his darsana, and Srila Prabhupada, as always, a warm and cordial host. Not at all inconvenienced, Prabhupada received them courteously, asking them a few polite questions: what their names were, where they came from, what they did, and the like. Then he looked directly into their faces and asked, "So, what is it that I can do for you?"

"Swamiji, we just wanted to get your blessings."

"What is that blessing?"

This answer took them by surprise. No one had ever asked them what kind of blessings.

Caught off guard, one of them replied, "Well Swamiji, I have this pain in my knee..."

We almost groaned out loud and the man, becoming embarrassed, hastily added, "And for our families also..."

"Ah, and of course we want to do good to others..."

As he trailed off into confused silence, Prabhupada indicated his three disciples with shaved heads, sikhas, kurtas, dhotis, and tulasi beads. He told them, "This is my blessing. These boys have given up everything for Krsna's service and to chant Hare Krsna. Are you prepared to accept such a blessing?"

At first there was no reply. They were stunned; all kinds of wild thoughts seemed to run through their heads and across their faces. Then, before they could become the beneficiaries of this blessing, they hurriedly stood. One stammered, "Well, actually Swamiji, at the moment we have so many duties with the family and all, this kind of life of a sannyasi, for us it is not possible..." With profuse apologies and many thanks they beat a hasty retreat. We laughed as Prabhupada sat smiling and shook his head.

"This is the problem. They simply take a sadhu as some means for avoiding paying the doctor's bill, that's all. Asirvada-maharaja. They are not serious for spiritual life."

People have no appreciation of a real mahatma.

Pradyumna (leads chanting, etc.):

pancajanyam hrsikeso
devadattam dhananjayah
paundram dadhmau maha-sankham
bhima-karma vrkodarah
 [Bg. 1.15]

Translation: "Then Lord Krsna blew His conchshell named Pancajanya; Arjuna blew his, the Devadatta; and Bhima, the voracious eater and performer of Herculean tasks, blew his terrific conchshell named Paundram."

Prabhupada: So Vrkodara, Bhimasena, is advertised as voracious eater. But he can perform Herculean task also. Just like the elephant, it eats voraciously, but it gives service also. Similarly if we simply eat voraciously and we cannot give any service that is not good. We must eat sumptuously and give service also. In Bengali it is said that pete keli pithe soya (?). If one is given sufficient food in the belly, he can carry more burden on the back. So Bhima-karma, his activities were very Herculean, very, very, difficult tasks he performed.

So everyone is named here with his task. The first name is, Krsna, Hrsikesa. Hrsikesa. He is the master of the senses. Govinda. Go means senses. "Who gives pleasure to the senses." So Krsna has got many names, thousands, out of which, the Krsna name is chief, mukhya. That is described in Vedic literature. People say God has no name. That is right. He has no particular fixed name. But His names are there according to His different activities. Just like His name is Devaki-nandana. Because He accepted Devaki as His mother, therefore He is called Devaki-nandana. Similarly, He is called Nanda-nandana, Yasoda-nandana, Vrajendra-nandana -- -in relationship with Nanda Maharaja, Yasoda, His foster father and mother. Similarly, He is sometimes named Partha-sarathi because He acted as the chariot driver of Arjuna. Arjuna's name is Partha. His mother's name is Prtha, Kunti's. From Prtha, his name is Partha. From his father's name, Pandu, his name is Pandava. So in this way big personalities or anyone, they should tally, the name should tally with the activities. This is nomenclature.
In the... According to Vedic civilization, after the birth of the child, there was name-giving ceremony, what kind of name. So that was calculated astrologically, that what kind of name he should be given, because the name should carry some meaning of the activities of his life. So Krsna is named here Hrsikesa. Hrsikesa, Krsna, in the fifteenth chapter is described that He gives direction to everyone. Sarvasya caham hrdi sannivistah: "I am sitting in everyone's heart as Paramatma." Realization of the Absolute Truth are three features, Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan.

vadanti tat tattva-vidas
tattvam yaj jnanam advayam
brahmeti paramatmeti
bhagavan iti sabdyate
 [SB 1.2.11]

Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan. The same object. So the Brahman realization is impersonal realization. Just like the sun, the sun globe, and the sunshine. They are one, but the sunshine, realization of the sunshine, is not realization of the sun globe. Or realization of the sun globe is not realization of the sun god who is within the sun globe. Vivasvan. His name is Vivasvan. The present predominating Deity in the sun planet, his name is Vivasvan. And his son Manu is called Vaivasvata Manu. This is the age of Vaivasvata Manu. So at the... This is very nice example, that the sunshine, the sun globe and the sun god. They are all one, but still, the sun globe is not the person, sun god; neither the sunshine is not the person sun, although they are one. This is called acintya-bhedabheda-tattva, inconceivably one and different simultaneously.

SRILA PRABHUPADA'S QUOTE OF THE DAY

Regarding prasadam, Krishna does not accept any foodstuff offered by a person who is not a devotee. In the Bhagavad-gita it is stated: patram puspam phalam toyam, yo me bhakta prayacchati (9.26). So the importance is stressed on the bhakti, the devotion. Krishna does not accept anything unless one is a pure devotee of Krishna. How to become a pure devotee of Krishna, you have to chant Hare Krishna and follow the four regulative principles of no meat eating, intoxication, illicit sex, or gambling, and you have to follow a guru who is expert in the science of devotional service. If you are serious about understanding Krishna consciousness, you can live with us for some time in one of our centres with your father's permission and learn the science and do the needful."

BHAGAVAD-GITA

SELECTED VERSES

"But a person free from all attachment and aversion and able to control his senses through regulative principles of freedom can obtain the complete mercy of the Lord.

"For one thus satisfied (in Krishna consciousness), the threefold miseries of material existence exist no longer; in such satisfied consciousness, one's intelligence is soon well established.

"One who is not connected with the Supreme (in Krishna consciousness) can have neither transcendental intelligence nor a steady mind, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?

"As a boat on the water is swept away by a strong wind, even one of the roaming senses on which the mind focuses can carry away a man’s intelligence.

"Therefore, 0 mighty-armed, one whose senses are restrained from their objects is certainly of steady intelligence.

"What is night for all beings is the time of awakening for the self-controlled; and the time of awakening for all beings is night for the introspective sage.

"A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires - that enter like rivers into the ocean, which is ever being filled but is always still - can alone achieve peace, and not the man who strives to satisfy such desires.

"A person who has given up all desires for sense gratification, who lives free from desires, who has given up all sense of proprietorship and is devoid of false ego - he alone can attain real peace."

Impersonalism is Condemned in the Upaniñads

12.26

andhaà tamaù praviçanti ye 'vidyäm upäsate
tato bhuya iva te tamo ya u vidyäyäà ratäù

Those who engage in the culture of ignorance [and so perform karma-kaëda worship to attain their desired object] shall enter into dark regions of ignorance. Worse still are those engaged in the culture of so-called knowledge. They enter into a realm of even greater darkness. (Içopaniñad 9)

12.27

kleço 'dhikataras teñäm avyaktäsakta-cetasäm
avyaktä hi gatir duùkhaà dehavadbhir aväpyate

For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifest, impersonal feature of the Absolute, advancement is very troublesome. Progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied. (Bhagavad-gétä 12.5)

The Scriptures Condemn the Ascending Path of Knowledge

12.28

jïäne prayäsam udapäsya namanta eva
jévanti san-mukharitäà bhavadéya-värtäm
sthäne sthitäù çruti-gatäà tanu-väo-manobhir
ye präyaço 'jita jito 'py asi tais tri-lokyäm

[Lord Brahmä said] My dear Lord, those devotees who have thrown away the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth and have therefore abandoned discussing empirical philosophical truths should hear from self-realized devotees about Your holy name, form, pastimes, and qualities. They should completely follow the principles of devotional service. Surrendering themselves fully with body, mind, and words they can live in any position. Indeed, O Lord, although You are unconquerable, You are conquered by such persons. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 10.14.3)

12.29

teñäm asau kleçala eva çiñyate
nänyad yathä sthüla-tuñävaghätinäm

My dear Lord, devotional service unto You is the only auspicious path. Those who reject the path of bhakti and try to reach the infinite with their finite brains will never succeed. O Lord, those who want to have a clear conception of You through their intellect find their attempts useless. Their endeavors end only in trouble and frustration, like the frustration of those who try to beat rice from empty husks. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 10.14.4)

The Followers of the Ascending and

Someone may say that aside from Vaiñëavas, who always seek shelter at the Lord's lotus feet, there are those who are not Vaiñëavas but have accepted a different process for attaining salvation. What happens to them? In answer to this question, Lord Brahmä says: O lotus-eyed Lord, although nondevotees who accept severe austerities and penance's to achieve the highest position may think themselves liberated, their intelligence is impure. Although they may rise to the level of impersonal Brahman realization, they fall down from their position of imagined superiority because they neglect to worship Your lotus feet. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 10.2.32)

12.31

O Madhava, Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord of the goddess of fortune, if devotees completely in love with You sometimes fall from the path of devotion, they do not fall down like nondevotees, for You still protect them. Thus they fearlessly traverse the heads of their opponents and continue to progress in devotional service. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 10.2.33)

12.32

jévan-muktä api punar-bandhanaà yänti karmabhiù

Those souls who have attained liberation while living can again become bound if they commit an offense to the inconceivably powerful Supreme Personality of Godhead. (Väsanä-bhäñyodhåta Çré Bhagavata-pariçiñöa-vacana)

12.33

jévan-muktäù prapadyante kvacit saàsära-väsanäm
yogino na vilipyante karmabhir-bhagavat-paräù

Those who have attained liberation while living sometimes develop material attachment, but those who are fixed in bhakti-yoga, who have dedicated themselves to Kåñëa, will never again have to suffer repeated birth and death. (Väsanä-bhäñyodhåta Çré Bhagavata-pariçiñöa-vacana)

12.34

Out of foolishness if one does not follow the Lord of the universe when he goes out on a chariot then such a person will become Brahma-rakñasa even if he is a liberated person. (Ratha-yäträ-prasaìge Çré Viñëu-bhakti-candrodayoddhåta Puräëaväkya)

We are very powerful because of austerities, meditation and education. Nonetheless, even after searching for the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who sees everything, we cannot see Him or understand Him. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 4.29.44)

The Supreme Self can never be known by argument, reasoning, intelligence, or scholarship. By His own sweet will, however, the Lord may choose to reveal Himself to someone in His personal divine form. Only such a person can see the Lord. (Muëòaka Upaniñad 3.2.3)

12.37

12.38

Let me offer my respectful obeisance's unto my spiritual master, the son of Vyäsadeva, Çukadeva Gosvämé. It is he who defeats all inauspicious things within this universe. Although in the beginning he was absorbed in the happiness of Brahman realization and was living in a secluded place, giving up all other types of consciousness, he became attracted by the most melodious pastimes of Lord Kåñëa. He therefore mercifully spoke the supreme Puräëa, Çrémad Bhägavatam, which is the bright light of the Absolute Truth and which describes the activities of Lord Kåñëa. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 12.12.69)

The wise have concluded that yoga and its mystic perfection's are impediments on the path of the Absolute Truth. They are a waste of time for those who wish to practice the best yoga, devotional service, and thus attain the highest perfection [love of Godhead]. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 11.15.33)

Who is a Real Yogé and Sannyäsé?

12.44

anäçritaù karma-phalaà käryaà karma karoti yaù
sa sannyäsé ca yogé ca na niragnir na cäkriyaù

One who is unattached to the fruits of his work yet does his duty is a true sannyäsé and a yogé, not he who lights no fire of sacrifice or performs no work. (Bhagavad-gétä 6.1)

12.45

niskäma haiyäkare ye kåñëa-bhajana
tähäre se bali "yogé" sannyäsa-lakñaëa
viñëu-kriyä nä karile paränna khäile
kicchu nahe, säkñätei ei vede bale

One who worships Kåñëa without material desires is a real yogé and has symptoms of sannyäsé. Those who do not work for Viñëu but eat from others are parasites. That is the version of the Vedas. (Chaitanya bhagavat. Antya 3.41-42)

12.46

tapasvibhyo 'dhiko yogé jïänibhyo 'pi mato 'dhikaù
karmibhyaç cädhiko yogé tasmäd yogé bhavärjuna

A yogé is greater than a ascetic, a jïäni, or a karmi. Therefore, O Arjuna, always be a yogé. (Bhagavad-gétä 6.46)

12.47

yoginäm api sarveñäà mad-gatenäntar-ätmanä
çraddhävän bhajate yo mäà sa me yuktatamo mataù

Of all yogés, who always abides in Me with great faith, always thinking of Me and worshiping Me in transcendental loving service, is most intimately united with Me in yoga. He is the highest of all. (Bhagavad-gétä 6.47)

Without Bhakti There is no Means to Attain the Supreme

12.48

na sädhayati mäà yogo na säokhyaà dharma uddhava
na svädhyäyas tapas tyägo yathä bhaktir mamorjitä

I am not controlled by those who practice mystic yoga, Säokhya philosophy, mundane piety and religion, study of the Vedas, penances and renunciation. O Uddhava, I am controlled by bhakti. Those who have developed unalloyed devotion for Me control Me by their love. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 11.14.20)

Pure Devotion is the Only Means to Attain Kåñëa

Although being assured of his father's treasure, the poor man could not acquire this treasure by such knowledge alone. The astrologer had to tell him, therefore, the means whereby he could actually find the treasure. The astrologer said, "The treasure is in this place, but if you dig on the southern side, the wasps and drones will rise, and you will not get your treasure. If you dig on the western side, a ghost will create such a disturbance that your hands will not even touch the treasure. If you dig on the northern side, a big black snake will devour you. If, however, you dig up a small quantity of dirt on the eastern side, you will immediately touch the pot of treasure. Revealed scriptures conclude that one should give up fruitive activity, speculative knowledge, and the mystic yoga system. Instead one should take to devotional service, by which Kåñëa can be fully satisfied. The conclusion is that devotional service is the only means to approach the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This system is therefore called abhidheya. This is the verdict of all revealed scriptures. When one is actually rich he naturally enjoys all kinds of happiness. When one is actually in a happy mood, all distressful conditions go away by themselves. No extraneous endeavor is needed. Similarly, as a result of bhakti, one's dormant love for Kåñëa awakens. Then one can taste the association of Lord Kåñëa. And material existence, the repetition of birth and death, comes to an end. The goal of love of Godhead is not to become materially rich or free from material bondage. The real goal is to be situated in devotional service to the Lord and to enjoy transcendental bliss. (Sri Chaitanya charitamritam. Madhya 20.131-136, 139-142)

The Goal of Bhakti and the Goal of Karma
and Jïäna are not the Same

To those who are constantly devoted, serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me. (Bhagavad-gétä 10.10)

12.51

yogasya tapasaç caiva nyäsasya gatayo 'maläù
mahar janas tapaù satyaà bhakti-yogasya mad-gatiù

Those who practice mystic yoga, who perform great austerities and accept sannyäsa, may attain the sinless realms of Maharloka, Janaloka, Tapaloka, and Satyaloka, but those who practice bhakti-yoga, devotional service unto Me, attain My abode. (Srimad Bhägavatam. 11.24.14)

12.52

yänti deva-vratä devän pitèn yänti pitå-vratäù
bhütäni yänti bhütejyä yänti mad-yäjino 'pi mäm

Those who worship the demigods go to the planets of the demigods; those who worship the ancestors go to the ancestors; those who worship ghosts and spirits take birth among such beings, and those who worship Me will live with Me. (Bhagavad-gétä 9.25)

12.53

'mukti, bhukti väïche yei, kähän duohära gati?'
'sthävara-deha, deva-deha yaiche avasthiti'

"And what is the destination of those who desire liberation and those who desire sense gratification?" Çré Caitanya Mahäprabhu asked. Rämänanda Räya replied, "Those who attempt to merge into the existence of the Supreme Lord will have to accept a body like that of a tree. And those who are overly inclined toward sense gratification will attain the bodies of demigods.'' (Sri Chaitanya charitamritam. Madhya 8.257)

The Character of Bhakti

12.54

mac-cittä mad-gata-präëä bodhayantaù parasparam
kathayantaç ca mäà nityaà tuñyanti ca ramanti ca

The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing, about Me. (Bhagavad-gétä l0.9)

"IN EVERY TOWN AND VILLAGE the chanting of the Holy Name of Krishna shall be heard. This was the forecast made by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu almost 500 years ago in India. Today, as the Hare Krishna Mantra -- Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare -- resounds in Bombay and New York, Nairobi and Sydney, and in Paris and Hong Kong, the prophecy of Lord Caitanya stands fulfilled. The universal import of this "Samkirtan Movement" (the congregational chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord) was expressed by Lord Caitanya as follows:

"Glory to the Sri Krishna Samkirtan which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years together. Thus the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death, is extinguished. The Samkirtan Movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction Moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge, it increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it helps us to have a taste of the full nectar for which we are always anxious."

Agama Tantra and the Vaishnava Samskaras as a way of life:

Recently I was asked, "Don't you find it an inconvenience to always be checking to see when is the right time to do this or the best time for that?"

In simple terms my answer was and still is; if you go to the bus or railway station or airport it is probably an intelligent venture to enquire about the times and routes of vehicles than to just hope that one will be along soon, or one is going in your direction.

There are subtle influences in the Universe that, for thousands of years gone by, advanced cultures have honoured, respected and utilised. Before the corruption of the Vedik literatures by the Christian and Moslem invaders to India all these things were used; Ayurvedik Medicine; Vedik Astrology; etc. Today there's a rennaisance among many to revive these arts.

We have been trained and studied to be able to provide these services. See some of my sites:
